How to schedule a Telegram message once, daily or for a list
Yes, Telegram can schedule a message natively. In any chat, hold the Send button on a phone or right-click it in Telegram Desktop, choose Schedule Message and set a date and time. Telegram's servers hold it and send it even if your device is offline; Premium accounts can also repeat it daily or on a longer cycle.
Where does a scheduled message wait until it goes out?
Telegram's developer documentation on how scheduled messages are queued describes the mechanics plainly. The app attaches a future UNIX timestamp to the message, the server files it in a queue for the current chat, and every chat keeps its own queue with its own message numbering. Pick a moment less than 10 seconds away and Telegram skips the queue and sends at once. That design settles the worry behind searches for "telegram schedule message offline": nothing on your side has to stay awake, logged in to a laptop, or charged. It also explains a quieter limit that shapes the rest of this guide. Because each queue lives inside a single conversation, scheduling is a per-chat tool, and the apps have no screen for dropping one message into fifty chats at once.
How to schedule a Telegram message on Android and iPhone
On a phone it takes five steps, and the feature has been there since Telegram's 5 September 2019 update that introduced scheduled messages. To make a scheduled message in Telegram:
- Open the chat, group or channel and type the text, or attach the photo or file.
- Press and hold the Send arrow instead of tapping it.
- Choose Schedule Message from the small menu that appears.
- Set the date and time on the picker. This is the step behind the question of how to set time to send message in Telegram, and the picker uses your phone's own time zone.
- Confirm. The chat now shows a scheduled-messages icon in the message bar, which opens the queue.
The same routine covers how to schedule messages in Telegram several at a time: repeat it per message and they stack up in that chat's queue in time order. Schedule something into Saved Messages and it turns into a private reminder, which is how Telegram pitched the feature in 2019.
Choose the hour from data, not habit; with Telegram past 1 billion monthly users by Pavel Durov's March 2025 count, your readers are rarely all in one time zone. For a channel, the view and reach figures in your channel analytics show when readers actually open posts.
Telegram Desktop: right-click where the phone wants a long press
Most people asking how to schedule message on Telegram desktop are stuck on one thing: the menu stays hidden until you right-click. After that the flow mirrors the phone. Queued items sit behind a scheduled-messages button in the message bar, where you can edit the text, move the time or push one out early.
One snag is on record. A GitHub bug report against Telegram Desktop 4.14.13 described the right-click menu inside a group's forum topics showing only "Send without sound", with no schedule entry. If your build does that, schedule from the phone app instead. The queue is stored on the server, so it appears on both devices within seconds, and you can still edit the item from the desktop afterwards.
Send When Online or a fixed time: which should you use?
In the API this mode is a placeholder date, 0x7FFFFFFE or 2,147,483,646, rather than a real timestamp. If the contact is already online, the message leaves straight away. Most guides skip the catch. When the recipient hides their last-seen status, the server refuses with a SCHEDULE_STATUS_PRIVATE error and nothing is queued, so a telegram schedule message when online attempt simply cannot work for privacy-minded contacts.
For a client six time zones away, a fixed 09:00 in their morning is usually kinder anyway.
Can a Telegram message repeat every day?
This is the newest and least explained part of the feature. When we read Telegram's API reference on 10 October 2026, we saw that the messages.sendMessage method carried a schedule_repeat_period field, described as re-sending the message "this many seconds in the future" after each delivery, and the scheduled-messages page gave 86,400 seconds (one day) as the daily value and 604,800 for weekly. Two limits came out of that reading: repeats work for a single message only, so albums and multi-message forwards cannot loop, and the option is reserved for Premium users. It was a long time coming. On Telegram's public suggestion tracker, a request for daily, weekly, monthly and yearly repeats was filed in January 2021, and a Telegram representative replied in October 2025 that repeat options were in beta.
Without Premium, a telegram schedule recurring message means either a scheduler bot or redoing the manual schedule each week. Crypto communities that post a daily AMA reminder hit this first, and our notes on Telegram marketing for crypto projects cover what those groups tolerate. A repeat also can't rescue a feed nobody reads: bought subscribers and members raise the headcount, not the views on a daily post.
What does a Telegram scheduler bot actually add?
That error, listed on the messages.sendMessage method reference, decides how every telegram scheduler bot works. A bot such as @ControllerBot keeps your post on its own server and calls the Bot API at the chosen minute, so the post goes out only if that outside service is running and still holds admin rights in your channel. Check what permissions it asks for before you promote it. Bots carry a second limit that matters for outreach: they can write only to users who started a chat with them first, so a telegram schedule message bot cannot send timed DMs to a cold list. Even for opted-in users, Telegram's bot FAQ puts bulk notifications at roughly 30 messages per second. And a scheduler is not an SMM panel that sells views and members; it posts, it doesn't inflate. Where a bot is the right tool for direct outreach, our Telegram mass DM bot is built around opted-in lists.
| Method | Works in | Your device online at send time? | Repeats | Main limit |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Schedule Message (built in) | Private chats, groups, channels, Saved Messages | No, server-side | Premium only | One chat per queue; queue cap not published |
| Send When Online | Private chats only | No | No | Fails if the contact hides last seen |
| Scheduler bot | Channels and groups where the bot is admin | No, but the bot's server must be up | Yes, set in the bot | Can't message users who never started it |
| Managed campaign | Private chats with an opted-in list | No | Planned per campaign | Paced sending, no guaranteed replies |
Why the built-in scheduler stops short of bulk sends
The telegram send scheduled message feature was built for a person, not a list. Timing one announcement for 400 contacts means 400 separate schedules. The queue is capped as well: the API answers "There are too many scheduled messages" and "You can't schedule a message this far in the future" without publishing either number. Third-party guides quote 100 per chat and about a year ahead, which Telegram has never confirmed.
Volume is the bigger problem. Hundreds of identical messages leaving one account in the same minute read as spam to Telegram even when every recipient opted in, and that is the account you lose. Pacing is what a mass messaging service or platform really sells, and it sits at the centre of how our campaigns are set up and paced: an opted-in list, copy you sign off, and sends spread over a window instead of one burst. Prefer to run software yourself? Read our checklist for choosing a mass DM sender before you buy one; for a managed run, campaign pricing is public. Neither route gets around Telegram's limits. And timing messages is a different job from a Telegram member adder, which pulls people into groups and carries its own risks.
Which method should you use this week?
Pick by audience, not by feature list:
- One chat, one moment: use the built-in Schedule Message, and keep Send When Online for contacts who show their last seen.
- One daily post: pay for Premium rather than giving a bot admin rights over your channel.
- A channel content calendar with buttons and several editors: bring in a scheduler bot.
- A list of people: hand it to a paced campaign.
If the real trouble is that too few people see what you schedule, fix reach before timing. Growing a channel organically, paying for a post in other channels and groups, what the official Telegram Ads platform costs and the wider channel promotion options each move that number more than a smarter send time does. When the list is ready, the managed Telegram Mass DM service can run the send for you.
FAQ
Can you schedule a message in Telegram without Premium?
Yes. Scheduling a one-off message for a fixed date and time is free on every account and has been since September 2019. Premium is only needed for repeating scheduled messages, such as a post that goes out every day or every week.
How do I schedule a msg in Telegram from my phone?
Type the message, press and hold the Send arrow, tap Schedule Message, pick the date and time, then confirm. On Telegram Desktop the same menu opens when you right-click Send.
Does a scheduled Telegram message still send if my phone is off?
Yes. The message waits in a queue on Telegram's servers, so it goes out at the set time even if your phone is offline, switched off or has a flat battery.
Can you schedule a message on Telegram in a group or channel?
Yes. A fixed date and time works in groups and channels as well as private chats, as long as you are allowed to post there. Send When Online is limited to one-to-one chats.
How do I edit, cancel or send a scheduled message early?
Open the chat and tap the scheduled-messages icon in the message bar. Long-press a queued item, or right-click it on desktop, to edit the text, change the time, send it now or delete it.
Is there a limit on how many messages I can schedule?
Yes, but Telegram does not publish the number. Past the cap the API returns a too-many-scheduled-messages error, with a separate error for dates too far ahead. Guides often cite 100 per chat and about a year, which Telegram has not confirmed.
Can I schedule a recurring message on Telegram for free?
Not with the built-in scheduler. Repeating scheduled messages are a Premium feature; on a free account the options are a scheduler bot for a channel or group, or setting each send by hand.
Can a Telegram bot send timed messages to people who never started it?
No. Bots can only message users who opened a chat with them first, and Telegram blocks bots from its native scheduler. Timed outreach to a list needs those people's opt-in and a paced, account-based send.
